In 2017, Takanami was a grand champion for Red / Black Wagyu Bull for two major Wagyu shows including the 2017 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and the 2017 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE).

Takanami’s pedigree combines the exceptional production and maternal traits of the Kumamoto Red strain with powerful black genetics and marbling on the dam side. He will provide hybrid vigor to the red and black Wagyu herds as well as produce crossbred calves that perform well in the feed lot. At the 2017 North American Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky, this bull was the #1 scoring beef cattle and had the top scan scores of all Wagyu animal exhibited. He had the #1 marbling score, #1 muscle depth, and #1 estimated ribeye at 18.17.

His sire is Red Emperor, a fullblood Akaushi /Red Wagyu bull steeped in some of the best and most influential Akaushi bloodlines available in the U.S. Red Emperor is the progeny of Heartbrand Big Al and Dai 8 Marunami. Heartbrand Red Emperor is the only Akaushi bull which closely ties to the two most famous Akaushi maternal lines of Dai 8 Marunami and Akiko while also finding in his heritage to the venerable Dai 10 Mitsumaru.

Takanami’s dam is LMR MS Sanjirou 76T, an exceptional black wagyu cow bred by World K’s Co. Marbling scan data on 76T progeny has been impressive and consistent. Her pedigree is outstanding with World K’s Sanjirou on the sire side and World K’s Nakazakura on the dam side.
